About me
Hi, I'm Abby! I am a leader who aims for greatness and focuses on helping to bring out the good of others. I am currently wrapping up my third year student at the University of New Brunswick and is studying philosophy in interdisciplinary leadership. After graduation, I hope to get my Bachelors of Education and become a math and science teacher.
I am determined to see social change and I believe that it starts with youth education. It has been my dream since I was young to teach and mentor others, and it has been Renaissance College that has equipped me to lead for change. I have seen how my dreams for restructuring education can become a reality if I apply my problem solving skills along with the other learning outcomes. I am passionate about inclusivity and accessibility and want to empower students to reach their full potential. Too many students think they are not going to be successful because they are "dumb" when in reality, they are trying to function in a system that does not support them. I want to prove to every student that they are capable of great things and making a difference in the world.

About RC
Renaissance College (RC) is a new approach to post-secondary education that focusses on hands-on learning and interdisciplinary education. Evaluation of learning at RC is based on the six learning outcomes. The six learning outcomes are Personal Wellbeing, Social Interaction, Multi-Literacy, Problem-Solving, Knowing Self and Others, and Effective Citizenship. More information and the definitions of the learning outcomes are listed below. Using experiential approaches to education and reflection through the learning outcomes, students develop their leadership and academic skills.
The purpose of the learning portfolio is to summarize the learnings and growth that we have achieved at RC. In this project, we focussed on incorporating the "What? So What? and Now What?" mode of reflection. This strategy allows us to see the value in what we learned AND how we can apply all of this in our future. RC is not a one and done degree, but a community of learning that continues forever. This portfolio is a project close to my heart as it represents my first step in my journey of independence.
